What to do if your ID card is lost or broken? Four Steps Procedure
It is important to remember that your Emirates ID Card represents you and is an essential document. You must take immediate action if you lose your Emirates ID Card or if your card has been damaged.
- Reported the Incident: Should you lose or suspect your card has been stolen, report it immediately at the nearest ICA Customer Happiness Center. Your card will then be disabled. You can ask ICA for a copy of your ID card or the number if you do not possess one.
- Take the card with you if it is damaged. Please bring along the following documents.
- GCC Nationals will need to show proof of residency in the UAE.
- UAE nationals must have a Family Book or Original Passport.
- Expatriates must carry an Original Passport stamped with an Entry Permit.
- Parents must provide the original Birth Certificate of a child below 15 years, along with coloured photographs on a white backdrop.
- Replace ID Card: After reporting the incident, fill out an application form at any ICA Customer Happiness Center. You can also fill out an e-form on ICA’s website or download its app in the iOS or Google Play Store.
- Pay ID Fee: You must pay a fee of 300 UAE dirhams for lost or replacement cards. You will also have to pay an additional fee of 70 AED if your application is made through the Typing Centers in Abu Dhabi (or any other) or 40 AED if it’s done through the ICA website. The fee must be paid by all expatriates as well as GCC and UAE nationals. You can also order a fast delivery to your Emirates ID card by paying an additional 150 AED.
- Collection of Your New Identity Card: Once your application has been submitted, you will be sent a text message to your registered number informing you of the status and expected delivery of your new ID card.
